The Human Layer of Data & Analytics Transformation

Why leadership capacity matters alongside DAMA frameworks

Data and analytics initiatives increasingly sit at the centre of organizational strategy. Yet even with strong frameworks, tools, and operating models in place, many initiatives struggle to translate into sustained behavioural change and business impact.

This interactive session for the DAMA International community explores the often-overlooked human dimension of data and analytics transformation. As organizations introduce new ways of working - including governance, stewardship, and enterprise decision-making - leaders are required to navigate ambiguity, accountability, and cross-functional influence in real time.

Co-facilitated by Natasha Gulati (PCC, ICF) and Molly Edge (PCC, ICF) the session will explore how leadership coaching complements DAMA-aligned practices by building the inner capacity required to lead change effectively. Participants will experience a live leadership coaching demonstration, offering a practical view of how coaching supports clarity, ownership, and confident decision-making in complex data environments. The session will also reference lululemon as an example of how sustained investment in leadership development strengthens accountability, trust, and adoption across the organization.

This session is relevant for DAMA members working across data management, analytics, governance, architecture, and leadership roles.

From Guesswork to Decision Science: Using FAIR to Quantify Information Security Risk

Cyber and data risk are often discussed in qualitative terms: “high,” “medium,” or “low, " often leaving executives and data leaders struggling to make informed, defensible decisions. As organisations increasingly depend on data as a strategic asset, this ambiguity becomes a real business problem.

This webinar introduces the FAIR (Factor Analysis of Information Risk) framework as a practical, data-driven approach to quantifying information security risk in financial terms. Designed for data management, governance, and analytics professionals, the session will explore how FAIR transforms risk from subjective opinion into measurable insight that supports prioritisation, investment decisions, and executive communication.

Participants will learn:

  • Why traditional qualitative risk models fall short for data-driven organisations
  • How FAIR breaks risk into measurable components aligned with data assets and business outcomes
  • Practical examples of applying FAIR to data governance, privacy, and security scenarios
  • How quantified risk enables better conversations with executives, boards, and regulators

Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how FAIR can strengthen data governance programs, improve risk transparency, and support smarter, evidence-based decision-making across the organisation.
