Please join us VIRTUALLY on Friday Jan. 19th for a shortened Annual General Meeting to discuss and vote on two (2) major items. The recent and predicted snow are causing us to convert Friday's event to a VIRTUAL ONLY 

Agenda for Friday, Jan 19th (VIRTUAL ONLY):

  • 9:00 DAMA chapter announcements

  • 9:05 Short Annual General Meeting (see summary below)
    • Discussion and vote on proposed bylaws to align with Provincial standard
    • Discussion and vote on $50 fee for Premium Membership
  • 9:20 Draw for VIRTUAL attendees only

Proposed Chapter Bylaw Changes:
  • Please review the proposed bylaws (10 minute read) before the meeting
    • We discovered that our bylaws were not in sync with the provincial Society's basic society bylaws so we have amended them to align them. 
  • Proposal of an annual fee for Premium Membership starting in 2024
    • Premium Membership will enable us to harmonize our Vancouver Chapter with the common practice across all other Canadian DAMA chapters.
    • Details of the annual fee:
      • $50 due in January of each year. 
      • Students and unemployed can request the $10 annual fee.
      • Corporate bundles include a discount and reduced administration.
    • The benefits of Premium Membership include: 
    • Member only events such as Joe Reis and Chad Sanderson in June.
    • Deep discounts for the CDMP study group, official textbook DMBoK2, and conference
    • Eligibility to be invited to join Special Interest Groups such as the upcoming DG-SIG whose possible purpose is to mentor and share best practises amongst DGers and hopeful DGers in large organizations.
    • Access to historical slide decks and recordings, i.e. before last event
    • Voting at AGMs.
    • Eligible to run for Board of Director positions.
    • Regular Membership Benefits include: 
      • Invitations to, and free attendance at, most monthly events
      • No discounts for CDMP study group, DMBoK2, or fall conference.
      • No access to archived slide decks and recordings.
      • No vote at AGMs and not eligible to run for DAMA-Vancouver BC Board of Director positions.

  • We are finally back doing live events and even better, we will be in the new Deloitte Summit Building at 410 West Georgia, Vancouver with the same delicious muffins, croissants, coffee, and juices we all remember so fondly.

      • Aiming to have a meeting afterwards to begin organizing the Data Governance - Special Interest Group (probably with some constraints on joining the SIG in order to keep it a safe place to ask DG questions and provide experience-based mentorship, advice, and best practices).
