Program Overview

The CDMP Canadian Study Group is a cross-Canada, expert-led study program designed to support professionals preparing for the Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification.

Earning your CDMP credential is a significant professional milestone. It demonstrates your knowledge, experience, and commitment to best practices in data management.

In today’s job market, CDMP credentials are increasingly recognized across both public and private sector roles as a valuable professional asset.

Program Schedule

All sessions are delivered online via Zoom over a 10-week period.

Start date: Wednesday, April 1, 2026
Time: 4:30–6:00 PM (Pacific Time)
Format: Weekly live sessions

Why Join

This Canada-wide study group brings together experienced professionals and data management leaders from across the country and internationally.

Sessions focus on building a strong understanding of the CDMP knowledge areas, grounded in practical, real-world perspectives.

Pay If You Pass (PIYP) Exam Option

Participants may choose to write the CDMP exam at a Pay If You Pass (PIYP) event taking place in Vancouver in mid-June.

You write the exam and only pay $300 USD if you pass.
If you do not pass, you do not pay.

Additional details will be shared mid-April.

This option helps reduce financial barriers while encouraging confident exam participation.

Exam Overview

The study group prepares participants for the Data Management Fundamentals Exam, the entry point for CDMP certification at the Associate, Practitioner, or Master level.

Prep class for upcoming CDMP exam

Monday June 8th 4:30-6:00 PM - Rania will be walking registrants through best practices, tips, and traps for writing the CDMP exam.

Note: The $5 "commitment fee" will go to the Vancouver Food Bank.

Agenda:

16:30-18:00 Rania's presentation and group discussion.

Join us for a focused 90-minute review session where we will review sample questions across all key chapters of the DAMA-DMBOK. This session is designed to help participants test their knowledge, identify areas for further review, and clarify important concepts before the exam.

During the session, we will walk through selected practice questions, discuss the reasoning behind the correct answers, and highlight key topics participants may want to revisit as part of their exam preparation.

Rania Waseef is the Founder of Innova CoE, a consulting and training company that helps organizations drive sustainable business and digital transformation through high-impact Centers of Excellence. With over 15 years of cross-industry experience, she brings a multidisciplinary background in engineering, education, and leadership to her work in innovation strategy and enterprise transformation.

Rania is also the Director of Strategy Execution at a SaaS company, where she leads business and digital transformation initiatives that align with business strategy and maximize organizational value.

She specializes in helping organizations translate strategy into measurable outcomes by aligning people, processes, data, and technology. Her work focuses on building practical capabilities, governance structures, and change management approaches that enable organizations to adopt innovation, improve performance, and sustain transformation. She also designs and delivers training programs that equip leaders and teams to navigate disruption, strengthen data and digital fluency, and lead people-centred change.

Rania holds professional certifications in Data Governance through ICCP at the Principal Level, Strategy Planning and Execution from Harvard University, Goal Setting and Performance Metrics including OKRs and KPIs, Lean Six Sigma, Agile Change Management, Business Intelligence, Business Architecture, Project Management, and Business Analysis. She currently serves on the DAMA International Board of Directors, and also serves as VP of Data Governance and Training with DAMA Edmonton and DAMA Regional Director for Data Professional Development.

Saturday June 20th afternoon - Proctored Pay-If-You-Pass CDMP exam.

DAMA Vancouver BC is pleased to offer a Pay-If-You-Pass opportunity for professionals pursuing the Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) – Fundamentals exam.
